Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a type of plastic surgery that changes your nose’s shape and size. Some people have cosmetic Rhinoplasty to improve how their nose and face look. Others undergo functional Rhinoplasty, which improves breathing and nasal function. Surgeons who perform this procedure are trained in plastic surgery or facial plastic surgery. Rhinoplasty is commonly called a nose job.

Rhinoplasty Allows To:

• Correct a congenital abnormality (birth defect).
• Improve your overall appearance.
• Open blocked nasal passages (deviated septum).
• Repair a facial fracture, like a broken nose.
• Restore breathing function after disease, cancer treatments, traumatic injuries, or burns.

Before your Rhinoplasty procedure, you’ll meet with Astramedica’s professional surgeon and crew for an initial consultation. This meeting provides an opportunity for you to ask questions and explain the results you hope to get. Your healthcare provider will examine and measure your face and take photographs. The two of you can discuss surgery options, outcomes, and risks.

You should bring a list of current medications and supplements, including dosages. Besides, photographs (if you have them) of how you’d like your nose to look after surgery.

How Is The Operation Performed?

• Nose surgery is performed under general or local anesthesia. During closed Rhinoplasty, incisions are made in the so-called vestibule of the nose, that is, inside the nasal sinus, so postoperative scars are not noticeable.
• During the operation, the outer skin membrane is separated from the bone and cartilage, soft and hard tissues are corrected, absorbable sutures are applied to the mucous membrane.
• After the operation, cotton swabs are inserted into the nose and a special fixing plate (langet) is placed on top of the nose.
• The duration of the operation is about 1 hour.

After Rhinoplasty:

Within about one week, depending on the performed Rhinoplasty, the splint and bandage are removed. But to date, most Rhinoplasty operations are performed without the use of these funds. You may experience puffiness in your face or redness/blue around your eyes and nose for several days. Swelling, bruising and pain after a Rhinoplasty are quite normal and depend on your body and the changed shape of the nose, depending on the technique used. During the rapidly flowing postoperative process, swelling and bruising of the nose will pass. You can use cold compresses to help relieve swelling and pain. Your doctor may prescribe pain medication for you, follow his advice and do not take actions that have not been recommended to you. For the first few days after surgery, you will need to keep your head elevated and relatively still while you sleep.

After about 1 week, you will be able to return to social life. With a simple rhinoplasty, you can immediately return to social life. During this period, it is necessary to protect the nose from the harmful rays of the sun and blows caused by external factors. Wearing loose clothing and a wide-brimmed hat will help you during this period.

During this period, we recommend that you use lenses instead of glasses and be careful when swimming in the pool and the sea. After a rhinoplasty, the new shape of your nose will be fully developed within 6 months. For this reason, we recommend that you be patient to see the final result and consult your doctor during this period in order to be aware of possible changes.
