Neck Lift Surgery, Platysmaplasty, neck skin tightening is an operation aimed at lifting excess neck skin, correcting neck wrinkles and strengthening the sagging median neck muscle (platysma). As a result of the natural aging process of the body, tissues gradually lose turgor under the influence of gravity, slowing down metabolic processes. The oval of the face loses its former sophistication, a “second chin”, “double chin” appears. All these age-related problems are solved by neck rejuvenation surgery.
Before Neck Lift Surgery:
• Before the operation, it is necessary to have a personal consultation with a plastic surgeon. After a comprehensive discussion with the patient of the future operation, the surgeon will determine its order and conduct a detailed briefing.
• It is necessary to undergo a preoperative examination and pass tests. Analyzes should not be older than 2 weeks. A prerequisite for this operation is good health. Three weeks before the operation, the patient must not have suffered an acute or inflammatory disease, and also, there must not be any skin diseases.
• 2 – 3 weeks before the operation it is necessary to stop taking blood-thinning drugs (Acylpyrin, Anopyrin or other medicines containing acetylsalicylic acid).
• It is not recommended to dye your hair 7 – 10 days before the operation, as the dye that is gradually washed off can make it difficult to wash your hair and disinfect your hair after surgery.
• You must come to the operation on an empty stomach, ie. 6 hours before the operation you can not drink, eat, smoke.
• After the operation, the patient stays in the hospital for 1-2 nights.
Neck Lift Procedure:
Neck Lift surgery can take two to three hours and is performed under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation.
When performing a surgical Neck Lift, the neck area is described as an extension of the face and its inseparable part, which we recommend to be carried out together with the Face Lift operation. In a Face Lift operation, an incision is made starting in front of the pinna, going behind the ear to the sides of the scalp and following the natural jawline. Atrophied and out of shape muscle structure is given tension, excess adipose tissue and excess skin is cut off in accordance with the current structure. The incisions on the newly formed neck are sutured. There may be slight swelling and bruising after the surgery. Depending on the condition of our patient, he may be advised to spend one night in the hospital or return home after surgery.
Postoperative Care Recovery:
Recovery after Platysmaplasty takes up to 14 days – during this time bruises completely resolve, swelling disappears. Among other things, within 30 days it is necessary to observe a sparing regime – to refrain from fitness, sauna, sunburn.
From two weeks to a month, it is recommended to wear a tightening compression mask (do not take it off for about one week, then you need to put it on at night). It is recommended to wash your hair with warm, but not hot water, dry with cool air.
The first shampooing should be coordinated with your surgeon. For faster recovery, it is recommended to undergo a course of postoperative rehabilitation.
