Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty)

Abdominoplasty is the most common surgical method to eliminate sagging skin and fat accumulation in the upper, middle and lower abdomen, as well as to tighten the abdominal muscles. As a result of this method, used for sagging in the abdomen, a noticeable improvement is usually achieved. At the end of the operation, a mark that is longer than the mark after a cesarean remains on the bikini line and becomes invisible over time. (Depending on your wound healing responses).

Indications for Abdominoplasty:

  • Weakening and stretching of the anterior abdominal wall as a result of pregnancy;
  • A sharp change in body weight and, as a result, a discrepancy between skin contractility and weight change;
  • The presence of hernias of the anterior abdominal wall.

As for visible problems, most often there are two of them: the presence of stretch marks and sagging of the skin apron, that is, the subcutaneous fat layer. A lot of other problems can be identified during the operation itself, so the qualification of the doctor is extremely important, and the clinic should have everything necessary for a more advanced operation. Because there are no possible hernias visible behind this fatty apron, which requires another operation to remove the hernias inside the operation.

Abdominoplasty Allows to:

  • Improve the shape of the abdomen and waist;
  • Eliminate the skin-fat “apron”;
  • Improve skin condition;
  • Eliminate skin laxity, stretch marks (stretch marks), hernias;
  • Strengthen the muscles of the anterior abdominal wall.

Operation Types:

Surgical Tummy Tuck has several options for the operation. The choice of method depends on the constitutional features of a particular patient and the goals that he sets for himself. For example, the choice of Tummy Tuck method for young women who have not given birth and for older patients may differ.

 Classic Tummy Tuck involves the most extensive intervention (with the removal of a skin flap, subcutaneous fat, relocation of the navel, etc.). This is the most common way to perform Abdominoplasty;

Endoscopic Abdominoplasty does not involve the removal of excess skin at all and is performed on patients who are not satisfied with the protrusion of the anterior abdominal wall;

Mini-Abdominoplasty is suitable when the patient does not have excess tissue above the navel.

Postoperative Care Recovery:

After the operation, the patient stays in the hospital for 3-4 days. These days, examinations, dressings, hygiene of sutures are carried out; after the specified period, the patient is discharged.

Important requirements of the rehabilitation period are: wearing compression underwear for the first 1-1.5 months after surgery, limiting any physical activity and warming procedures (bath, sauna, solarium) for 1.5 months. Fully scarring ends 6-8 months after the operation. Then you can evaluate the final result.
